This is an application to be provided with a car for job transportation. This program is for lower income families who cannot afford to buy a serviceable car or cannot qualify for a traditional car loan. Each family receiving a car will be charged a small down payment and small monthly payments at 0% interest. The car's price will be significantly below market value. approval is based on need (low income & no access to any vehicle), credit history, and application receipt date. Preference will be given to applicants with an active case (regular caseworker meetings) with a local human services agency (referral letter required).
Please do not apply if you do not meet all of the following eligibility requirements:
1. Do not have a car in you household that runs
2. Currently employed full-time & have been for the last 6 months * (avg 30hrs a week min)
3. Have a child aged 17 or younger, living with you at home
4. At least 19 years old
5. Unable to qualify for traditional auto loan anywhere else
6. Annual gross household income under 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines
7. Permanent legal resident of Huntsville/Madison County
8. Valid Drivers License with no DUI or vehicle-related felony in the last 5 years
9. Able to purchase automobile liability insurance

Under penalties of perjury, I certify that the information provided in this application is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I am aware that the information I have provided is subject to review and verification by Family Services Center (FSC). I further understand that the release, verification and updating of this information is extended and not limited to my employer(s), landlord, school, childcare providers(s), all credit reporting agencies, the Alabama Department of Public Safety, the Alabama Department of Human Resources, the Social Security Administration, the County License Department or their agents or designees, or to any government agencies or human services organizations, or their agents, or designees. For verification and updating purposes, I hereby authorize that any and all information, contained in my records at the above organizations, be released to FSC, its staff and designees. I allow release of this information for verification purposes and understand that it will be used to determine my eligibility for the Caring Cars program.
When you submit this application, you must also include a copy of:
1. Your credit report (less than 3 months old) - get it free at annualcreditreport.com or we will get it if you send $40 with a note giving us permission & your Social Security #
2. Most recent month's worth of pay stubs
3. Most recent year's federal income tax return
4. Birth certificates of all children who are living with you
Without copies of these documents, your application cannot be processed.
